Sanctuary Consecration Rite

With the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic requiring many to stay at home, I had to cancel the public gathering to mark the consecration rite. But it still went ahead this morning in the sanctuary temenos within my home.
There was nothing but birdsong to be heard from the open window and the unusual silence provided a very sharp focus for the purpose of the ritual.
It was a very positive and uplifting affair. In place of a group of devotees chanting, I did a short period of drumming which really helped to build the energy before the formal unveiling of the icon.
The Sanctuary Icon, which will remain hidden from those who are not directly affiliated with the Sanctuary and its work, was fully blessed and ensouled. I had taken the week earlier to hand paint the icon and to fix small amber cabochons in place of the eyes. These acts have helped to further add to a unique and meaningful representation of the Goddess Hekate.
Offerings of incense, pomegranate, garlic, an egg, a daffodil, thyme and mint were offered to the Goddess along with singing the Orphic Hymn to Hekate.
Whilst we are spending time apart and in varying degrees of isolation, the Sanctuary will act to offer simple prayers and offerings to the Goddess as well as hopefully be able to support some of the spiritual needs of the community via our online channels.
