In Dark Times, Look For Her Light

With the chaotic and unsettling energy currents flowing around currently, I have done what many of us are probably doing and turned to the Gods for guidance and support. So this afternoon I went before my sacred space and utilized my personal oracle deck to ask for advice from Hekate in what both I and we, as a community, can do to help get through and rectify these troubling times.

Whilst I was shuffling, asking for Hekate’s light to cut through the darkness, I card all but flew out of the deck and landed on the altar. The card was Voces Magicae – Raising Energy. Instantly I felt I knew what this meant.

Voces Magicae is a term used for magickal words whose meaning and origins are unknown. One of the oldest and most significant sets is the Ephesian Letters that has become used by many modern Hekateans through their inclusion in the Rite of Her Sacred Fires and so they have become intrinsically bonded with one of the primary rivers of the modern Hekate Current.

“Askei Kataskei” could mean “darkness, light”. Mega in Greek means “great”, and it has been suggested that “Baui” may refer to the barking of a dog. Of course, it is speculative, but still ties it strongly to Hekate and Her known associations.

Ritually, I have used these Voces Magicae as an effective way of building energy, vibrations and raising power. At this time I feel that is what is most important for us to raise our power collectively to affect positive change for ourselves and each other even though we are taking precautions to avoid infection from the current C19 pandemic and keeping our most vulnerable safe from harm, meaning that gathering together is unlikely.

So drum, sing, chant, clap, stomp, dance…whatever you feel most comfortable with, do it in Hekate’s name and incorporate the Voces Magicae as a unifying principle that will help raise power across the world. Hekate is the Source of Souls and we all are Her children.
