Celebrating the Rite of Her Sacred Fires 2020

This year's celebrations have been muted slightly in the light of the current global health crisis, so for many of us
gathering together with other Hekateans in person was not an option. Despite that fact, we have still marked the occasion by kindling sacred flames across the world.
My own local celebrations for the Sanctuary had to be side-lined, but I still carried out the Rite solo within the Sanctuary temenos. I made my own little offering candle, tealight sized, by melting white beeswax and then some wax dye to make it red. I then added some Hekate blended oil and poured it into the aluminum holder. As it cooled I sprinkled some finely ground frankincense and myrrh resin onto the top.

It burnt quite well for a first attempt and gave off a slight fragrance that added to the magick of the occasion. Alas, I couldn't see the Moon mostly due to cloud (but also because my home is situated at an odd angle that makes seeing the moon (and sun) rise isn't straight forward).
I also had the honour and delight to celebrate with other members of the Covenant of Hekate via a Facebook Live stream facilitated by Sorita d'Este which was a lovely way to connect with others in these times of personal isolation.
As ever, the Rite was filled with joy and energy and a sense of renewal. I have taken some time to contemplate in my solitude and to divine from the Goddess what my next moves are in my relationship with Her.
The Sanctuary Facebook Group is seeing a steady growth in members, which is lovely to see and I have been trying to make interesting content for our YouTube channel so that the scope and reach of the Sanctuary and its Aims can reach far and wide.
