Sanctuary Calendar

In Development...

The following cycle of festivals and holy days has been inspired by existing celebrations both modern and those that we only have tantalising historical breadcrumbs for. My hope and desire is to create a structured procession that celebrates Hekate and Her Mysteries all year round without just being a Hekatean overlay to the Neo-Pagan Wheel of the Year or other established celebrations.

These celebrations are created within the Sanctuary by the Torchbearer but are open to all to celebrate should they feel moved to. You do not need to observe every one either; just the ones that speak to you.

The ebb and flow of the year’s cycle also has underlying Hekatean energy and I have divided the year is roughly into thirds to reflect this. As the year ends/begins at the Liminalia, the flowing nature of Hekate Einalia begins. Her watery and oceanic aspect starts the trickle of nourishing energies, provides cleansing waters, tears of joy and reflection in the relevant festivals that occur over the coming months. At the Rite of Her Sacred Fires, Hekate Ourania begins to shine. Here Her power builds exponentially being both shining and empowering, Her radiance and fiery countenance instils a quickening of energy in the warmer part of the year. As Persephone descends at the Autumn Kleidophoria, Hekate Kthonia begins Her reign. Darker, withdrawn, contemplative but no less powerful, we spend the darker months going deeper and experiencing many personal challenges and epiphanies.
